Release: 2021 Overtime Meritage

Wine: 75% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon

Winemaking Notes: While 2021 proved more favourable for white varietals across much of Niagara, select vineyard sites benefited from slightly warmer and drier conditions that allowed Bordeaux varietals to achieve exceptional maturity and phenolic ripeness. Our vineyard was fortunate to be one of those sites.

Careful vineyard management, patient winemaking and selective harvesting allowed this Meritage blend to reach its full potential. Grapes were harvested late in the season, fermented separately at moderate temperatures, and gently extracted through twice daily pumpovers to maximize flavour and structure. The wines were then aged for four years in a combination of new and older French oak barrels before only the finest casks were chosen for the final blend.

Deep ruby in colour and intensely aromatic, this wine reveals layers of black cherry, raspberry, wild strawberry, dried plum and dark chocolate, alongside subtle spice and toasted oak notes. The palate is round and velvety, driven by flavours of black currant, blackberry, and ripe cherry with a delicate touch of mint. Smooth tannins and integrated oak carry through a long, fresh finish accented by gentle spice.

Enjoy now for its youthful richness or cellar for up to eight years as it softens and gains further complexity.

Pair It With: Enjoy with anything from the grill! This Meritage complements roasted vegetables, mushrooms, herbed pork loin and juicy burgers with ease.
