After it's initial harvest in 2014 we have seen a growing appreciation for our estate grown Pinot Gris.
Palatine Hills first harvest of Pinot Gris grapes from our 4 year old vines. Despite being young, the grapes were very well developed and flavourful.
For our second Pinot Gris vintage in 2015, 15% of the juice was fermented in neutral French Oak barrels, the rest done in Stainless Steel Tanks. The resulting wine is complex, and bright with a mellow finish. 18 hours of skin contact allowed to wine to develop a pale rose colour and also contributed to additional complexities in the wine. The finished wines, both barrel fermented and stainless were then blended together to created the final product.
This is a perfect wine for summer sipping on the patio, with enough backbone to enjoy with your casual summer dining.
